Trinamool Congress wins in West Bengal by-poll

Kolkata, Aug 21: The Trinamool Congress power continued to roll in West Bengal with the party winning both the seats in the by-elections to the Sealdah and Bowbazar Assembly constituencies of Kolkata.

Source said, Swarnakamal Saha won in Bowbazar defeating Left supported Independent candidate Minati Gomes. While, Shikha Mitra (wife of Trinamool MP Somen Mitra) won from Sealdah defeating Probir Deb of CPI.

The polling was peaceful but it was marked by a very low turnout of 37 and 47 votes in Bowbazar and Sealdah respectively, sources added.
