Mukherjee reiterates India's commitment on Nepal development
New Delhi, Aug 20 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee assured visiting Nepalese Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal of India's commitment to provide economic assistance for developmental projects in Nepal.
Madhav Kumar Nepal held discussions with Mukherjee about developing economic ties between both countries.
"We have already identified certain projects which can be taken up immediately. We have made commitments of making our contribution about rupees 2000 crores for implementing these projects, including Terai route project, police academy, integrated check post, railway links, "Mukherjee said.
He added that both countries have decided to undertake projects on a need basis, and a joint committee consisting of officials from both sides would be set up to monitor the project and also to tackle issues arriving on hand.
Nepal also held discussions with Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram regarding the joint border monitoring and other security- related issues.
Madhav Kumar is scheduled to visit Mumbai on Friday, where he would be meeting Indian businessmen and stock exchange officials, before returning to Kathmandu on Saturday. (ANI)
