Rise in food items raises inflation

New Delhi, Aug 20: Inflation rate in India has risen from -1.74 percent in the previous week to -1.53 percent for the week ended Aug 8.

It rose despite increase in prices of food articles.

Bajra and urad prices rose by two per cent each while condiments, spices, arhar, and fruit and vegetables became more expensive by one per cent.

The prices of jowar, barley and moong reduced by four percent, two per cent and one per cent respectively.
