Mehsud's right-hand man arrested in Islamabad raid

Islamabad, Aug. 18 (ANI):A close aide of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud, Saifullah, has reportedly been arrested by security officials here.

According to sources, a joint team of the police, crime investigation department and intelligence agencies raided a house and arrested Saifullah and Zaid Akram from there.

Sources said Saifullah was staying in the house with some other 'high-value' targets, and was brought to Islamabad for treatment by Akram. Saifullah was seriously injured in drone strike last month.

Saifullah is believed to be the right-hand man of Mehsud. He arranged funds, explosives and weapons for the TTP, the Dawn reports.

Sources said security officials were carrying out raids in search of those doctors who had provided medical attention to the Taliban commander.

The ownership of the house where Saifullah had taken refuge is still to be ascertained. (ANI)
