Kuwait: 41 women, children killed in wedding blaze

Kuwait, Aug 16: At least 41 women and children were killed when a fire broke out in at a wedding in Kuwait, a local media report said.

The Kuwait Times report also said that many were believed to have been killed in a stampede that followed the fire at the wedding in the Ayoun area of Jahra, west of Kuwait City.

Major General Jassim Al-Mansouri, director general of the fire department said that at least 20 fire trucks and dozens of firemen battled the blaze. He also said, "The death toll was expected to rise as the tent was packed to capacity."
