SL President's nephew found murdered in Arusha
Tanzania, Aug 14: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa's nephew was found murdered at his residence on Wednesday, Aug 12 in Arusha in mysterious circumstances.
Sources said that Shyamlal Rajapaksa, 45-year-old, a lawyer was working for International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).
He was with his two male friends in his residence at Naura Street, Daraja Mbili area, for a couple of hours around 08:00 pm on Sunday, Aug 9, sources said.
Matei Basilio, Arusha Regional Police Commander (RPC) said the body was first found by the maid, in his sitting room bleeding from the nose and mouth.
The RPC added that inspection of the sitting room indicated that the trio were taking alcoholic drinks and some drugs whose samples have been collected for examination.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) in Moshi for postmortem.
The RPC said they were looking for information on the two people who were last seen with Shyamlal Rajapaksa. Incidentally, the two young men were not known to the security guard at the residence.
