Biggles heroics help pilot walk away unhurt after crashing into tree!

London, Aug 13 (ANI): A pilot who survived when his plane crashed into a tree on a Dundee golf course said he had the Biggles adventure stories to thank for his miraculous escape.

The 56-year-old Hagedorn, a pilot and a business consultant, said his childhood love for Biggles books "saved his life" when his plane rammed into a tree on the 15th hole after he ran out of fuel.

The Daily Express quoted him as saying: "As a boy, I remember reading a Biggles story where he was shot down over enemy lines.

"He managed to 'pancake' the plane sideways into a tree, which minimised the impact and he walked away unscathed.

"In the moment before impact, I was doing about 70 knots and still managed to think, 'What would Biggles do?'"

Hagedorn walked away with only minor head wounds after fire brigade and ambulance crew got him down from a height of 1100ft, where he was stuck for an hour. (ANI)
