Great intensity earthquake shakes Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Chennai, Aug 11 (ANI): An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale shook the Andaman and Nicobar islands early on Tuesday morning.

However, there were no reports of any loss to life and property.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the quake hit the island at 1:26 a.m. and was centered 260 km north of Port Blair city.

Tremors were also felt at several places in Chennai.

Many parts of Orissa including Bhubaneswar also felt mild tremor on Monday night. (ANI)
