Supreme Court upholds Calcutta HC order on banning old vehicles in WB
New Delhi, Aug 10 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday refused to stay the order of the Calcutta High Court order banning commercial vehicles which are 15-year-old and more in the city.
The order means that the ban on the vehicles will continue.
On July 31, the apex court had refused to grant interim stay on the Calcutta High Court judgement.
Earlier, the High Court had passed an order on July 18, 2008 asking the State Government to ban all public vehicles like buses, mini buses and lorries which had crossed 15 years from registration.
The State Government has decided to implement the High Court order, which was opposed by the 19 organisations of transport operators. (ANI)
