Brit MP, ex-Pak Kashmir PM say PPP has failed to highlight Kashmir issue
Islamabad, Aug.10 (ANI): British parliamentarian Lord Nazir Ahmed and former Pakistan Kashmir Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry have accused the Pakistan People's Party (PPP)-led federal government of not doing enough to highlight the Kashmir issue in international forums.
Addressing a joint news conference at Mehmood's residence here on Sunday, both claimed that the Kashmir issue was being sidelined and added that it must be forcefully highlighted before the international community.
Both said that there could no peace in South Asia unless the Kashmir issue was resolved.
While welcoming the proposed resumption of the composite dialogue between Pakistan and India, both called for the inclusion of Kashmiris in the process, as they were the real party to the dispute.
The Daily Times quoted Mehmood as saying that on a recent visit to Britain, he had met with British MPs and ministers and urged them to play their role in resolving the Kashmir issue. (ANI)
