Indian student killed, four trapped after minibus hits tree

Sydney, Aug.9 (ANI): An Indian student died after a hire minibus carrying 10 people veered off the road on the way to Mount Buller.

The 22-year-old man, who was in Australia on an Indian student visa died at the scene, the Herald Sun quoted investigators, as saying.

Another man in his 30s is in critical condition after suffering multiple lower body fractures, while a third male suffered multiple lower body injuries.

The seriously injured men were both flown to Melbourne hospitals, and were among four people who were trapped for three hours after a minibus crashed just after 8 a.m. this morning.

Four people were trapped in the wreckage for three hours, before rescue crews could free them.

There were 10 travelling in the Toyota Hi-Ace before it slid down a steep embankment on a sweeping right turn before the van slammed into a tree on the passenger-side.

All the travellers were from Broadmeadows, police said. (ANI)
