Sibal asks IITs to create quality faculties in technology
New Delhi, Aug 8 (ANI): Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal on Saturday called on the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to create quality faculties in the field of technical education to match the growing demands.
Speaking at the Convocation of IIT-Delhi, Sibal said despite growth in number of technical institutions, there had not been proportionate increase in quality graduates in the country.
"The key missing link in this growth is the availability of quality faculty," Sibal said.
He also asked the IITs to encourage the students to take up quality research, and said for long scientists and technologists in the developing world were disadvantaged because of distance from the market.
Sibal said the IITs had been able to attract and retain quality faculty because of other attractions and their commitment to the system.
Sibal stressed on the need to evolve a system for exchange of faculties and educational programme among the IITs. (ANI)
