New LTTE chief Pathmanathan arrested in Thailand
Colombo, Aug 7: The new chief of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, Selvarasa Pathmanathan alias Kumaran Pathmanathan or KP who took the reins of what was remaining of separatist group defeated in May 2009 has been reportedly arrested in Thailand.
KP who was wanted on two Interpol warrants was arrested on Bangkok, said Sri Lankan military on Thursday, Aug 6.

said.
However, the Thai authorities have not given any comment on this issue.
KP who was running the LTTE's arms and smuggling networks, was the first LTTE official to acknowledge the death of LTTE founder and leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran. Prabhakaran was killed in the last few days of the offensive launched by the Sir Lankan government against the group.
After the defeat of the leader, KP took over as the public leader after Sri Lanka declared victory against the militants on May 18 2009.
