Army foils infiltration bid in Mandi sector of Poonch

Jabbi LoC Mandi Sector (Poonch, J and K), Aug. 6 (ANI): The Indian Army foiled an attempt by five militants to cross the Line of Control (LoC) from the Jabbi post in the Mandi sector of Poonch district on Thursday.

The army noticed the movement of five infiltrators and alerted the post commander. After sometime, the militants attacked soldiers with a rocket launcher and grenades. The soldiers also fired on them.

One of the infiltrators was killed. The other four managed to flee back to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Officials said a combing operation was on to snuff out any more such attempts.

One AK 47, five magazines, 60 AK rounds, four Chinese grenades,five rucksacks, two GPS, one binocular, 26 batteries and Pak made eatables have been recovered after the encounter.

Clashes between Indian troops and Muslim militants have intensified in recent days in the mountainous region after militant leaders across the border are desperately trying to push in more militants to the Indian side. By Tahir Nadeem Khan (ANI)
