Imphal, Aug 5: Manipur Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh on Wednesday, Aug 5 ordered a judicial probe into the alleged fake encounter of 27-year-old Chungkham Sanjit by police on Jul 23. He also suspended six policemen in connection with the incident.

Addressing a press conference, Singh said, "Further action would depend on the report of the judicial inquiry."

The Indian authorities in the northeast state of Manipur have issued shoot-at-sight orders after imposing indefinite curfew in its state capital Imphal, a new agency report said.

"The situation is under control, although tension still prevails. Shoot-at-sight orders have been issued against anyone found violating the curfew orders," the police official said.

"We shall review the situation and see if we can relax curfew for a few hours to enable people to buy essentials," he added.
