LS adjourned twice over Reliance gas row

New Delhi, Aug 2: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for two hours on Monday, Aug 3 following the government's statement over the gas dispute issue between the Ambani brothers, created an uproar by Samajwadi Party (SP) members in the House.

The SP members dissatisfied over the government's response to their demnad for gas allocation to Anil Ambani-promoted Dadri power plant in Uttar Pradesh from the Mukesh Ambani-led RIL's D-6 gas field in the Krishna- Godavari basin.

Petroleum Minister Murli Deora's assertion that the government has 'nothing to do with the private dispute of two industrialists' and that Ambani's Dadri project, for which gas has been sought, was 'neither installed nor functional', led to protests from SP members.

While, efforts by Parliamentary Affairs Minister P K Bansal fail to calm them, leading to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee telling them that Deora's statement concerned only the issues raised by SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
