University of Malaya to appoint new head for Indian Studies Department
Petaling Jaya (Malaysia), July 31(ANI): The University of Malaya (UM) Vice-Chancellor Datuk Ghauth Jasmon has said that they would be appointing a new head for the Indian Studies Department at the University within the next three months.
Jasmon said that they have taken a temporary measure and appointed Professor Mohd Reduan Ariff as the acting head of the department, the Star online reports.
The vice-chancellor further specified that an Indian candidate would take over from Ariff.
Jasmon had earlier met Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) secretary-general Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam, who is also the Human Resources Minister, to seek an amicable solution to the issue. (ANI)
