Swine flu cases reported in two more schools in Pune

Pune, July 31 (ANI): Swine flu cases among students in Pune continued to rise with two more schools reporting the infection on Friday, taking the number of affected school to nine.

The latest addition to the list was 'New English' and 'Vivekanand' schools from where one each student tested positive for the virus.

The schools from where infections had been reported would remain closed till August 5.

Doctors monitoring the Swine flu control cell, however, said 44 positive cases had been successfully treated and discharged.

The schools will remain closed till August 2.

Earlier, the Centre has granted licences to three pharmaceutical companies to manufacture the swine flu vaccine.

According to sources, these companies will contact the World Health Organisation for acquiring seeds.

A committee has been constituted to keep a watch on the process of aquiring the seeds and manufacturing of vaccine. It will be headed by the Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Reseasch, Dr. V M Katoch. (ANI)
