Sachin Pilot at St. Joseph's College stamp release

Bangalore, Jul 31: Recognising the tremendous service St Joseph's College- Bangalore, has rendered to the nation for the last 127 years, the Government of India will issue a stamp to the college.

His excellency Hans Raj Bharathwaj, the Governor of Karnataka, will release the college stamp on saturday, Aug 1 at 4.00 pm. Sri Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, will be the Guest of Honour.

St Joseph"s College (Autonomous) is one of the top institutions of the country and it will be the first private college to have a stamp released in its name. Fr (Dr) Ambrose Pinto, Principal of the college, said that the stamp release would be a matter of history and a tribute to all those who are connected to this institution.

The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. In 2004, it was declared as a college of potential excellence by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, along with 47 other colleges in the country. After examining the academic level of the college, St Joseph"s was declared as an autonomous college by the Karnataka Government in 2005 on the recommendation of the UGC.
