Q1: SBI net profit up by 42 pc
Mumbai, Jul 31: The State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday, Jul 30 posted a surge of 42 per cent in its net profit for the first quarter (Q1) ended Jun 30, 2009.
India's largest lender's net profit stood at Rs 2,330.37 crore as opposed to Rs 1,640.79 crore the corresponding fiscal from previous year.
The total income for the quarter rose by 29.8 per cent to Rs 21,041.51 crore from Rs 16,203.07 crore from previous year.
In the same quarter, interest income of the bank grew by 26.6 per cent to Rs 17,473 crore versus Rs 13,799 crore from the corresponding quarter of previous year.
