Kalaignar TV to launch new channel for kids

New Delhi, Jul 31: Kalaignar Television Network which has already launched dedicated regional channels for music, and comedy is all set to foray into the regional kids" television arena.

Quoting official sources, exchange4media.com reports that Kalaignar has already acquired a license for the channel and will gone on air by the end of 2009. The channel that will be a competition for Sun network's Chutti TV will be called Chithram.

Apart from the upcoming kids channel and the existing, Isai Aruvi (music), Seithigal (news) and Sirippoli (comedy) channels, the Kalrgnar network is launching Kalaignar Asia. The channel which targets the Tamil Diaspora in South East Asian countries will be broadcast through THAICOM-5 satellite.

The channel will function from the Kalaignar TV premises in Chennai and the telecast starts at 6 am in the South East Asian countries. The network is not planning to generate fresh content for this channel.

The channel will broadcast the best shows from the all the others on the network focusing on serials, reality shows and film-based shows. This channel will officially take off from the first week of Sep 2009.
