2,500 foreign students, mostly Pakistanis, fail to turn up at UK universities
London, July 30 (ANI): Thousands of foreign students, most of them of Pakistani origin, who are granted visas to study at UK universities never turn up.
According to The Sun, three universities alone have shown nearly 2,500 applicants who failed to enroll in the last three years. tudents from Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Tanzania and Pakistan went missing after getting places in Hampshire. There were also smaller numbers from Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.
About 1,436 students didn't show up at Southampton Solent University and another 998 at the University of Southampton. Elsewhere, 51 went unaccounted at nearby University of Winchester.
Sir Andrew Green of MigrationWatchUK said: "There are now thousands of bogus students in Britain but little is being done to remove them."
The figures relate to before the UK Border Agency brought in a system to monitor student arrivals this year. (ANI)
