Drought-like situation forces Jharkahnd's Latehar villagers to migrate

Latehar (Jharkhand), July 27 (ANI): Prolonged spell of drought-like situation has forced people of Latehar district in Jharkhand to migrate to other parts, in order to earn their daily livelihood.

Many villagers are migrating to nearby districts due to absence of work as all agricultural activities have come to a standstill.

"There is no cultivation. We haven't sowed the seeds this time. That's why, we are migrating to some other place to earn some money," said Chandrika Sav, a resident.

According to the officials, the administration is supplying free food grains to the villagers who are reeling under drought-like situation.

"In this drought-like situation, we have given 10 quintals of grains to all Panchayats. We have directed them to supply 20 kilo free grains to those who need it," said Anil Tirki, block district officer.
