New Delhi, July 25 (ANI): With 65 bikers from across the country, the All India Monsoon Dirt Track Race Championship began in Indore on Saturday.
The championship has been jointly organised by Extreme Bikers Club and Indore Bikers Association.
Notable drivers Shankar and Sunny Sharma from delhi, Jess David of Jaipur, Brahmram of Jodhpur, Virenbhai of Ahmedabad, Swapnil of Pune and Austin Alvares of Indore are taking part in the race.
Incidentally, Alvares had been crowned the champion in the 2008 edition of this event.
"We found racing track very tough because of it was very muddy because of rain and there was grass as well on the track. Bikers did face difficulty in driving. We thought it would be tough and indeed it was even more challenging," said Shankar Govind, a participant.
The muddy racing track measured around 1100 metres and the recent rains had made it slushier, posing a great challenge for the bikers.
"We have organised dirt track race at all India level. This time we thought of organising it on wet and muddy stretch of track, as it will add more excitement and fun to the whole thing. Spectators are more thrilled watching the skills of the bikers," said Fali Alwaris, member of the organising committee.
Based on points and timings, the winner will be declared on Sunday after the completion of the preliminary races and other heats held on Saturday.
