Inflation increases by -1.17 percent
New Delhi, July 23(ANI): The rate of inflation has increased to -1.17 percent for the week ended July 11 against the -1.21percent in the previous week.
India's annual rate of inflation turned negative for the week ended June 6 for the first time since the new wholesale price index (WPI) series started in 1995.
The inflation rate had last turned negative in 1977.
According to experts, the inflation continues to rise thanks to the higher prices of fish-marine, fruits and vegetables and condiments and spices, maize and rice, copra, raw silk, soyabean, raw cotton and linseed
But there is a decline in the prices of tea, wheat, raw wool and sunflower, raw rubber and gingelly seed. (ANI)
