Third Metro mishap in Delhi, 1 killed

New Delhi, Jul 22: Yet another Metro Mishap has been reported from Delhi, accounting for the third accident in two weeks. An iron girder collapsed at the a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) construction site on Wednesday, Jul 22 killing a labourer.

The accident took place near Ram Bagh at Punjabi Bagh in west Delhi around 6 am, when the chain of a crane lifting the girder snapped and it fell on the ground. 22-year-old labourer, Vicky Singh got injured in the accident was taken to the hospital where he died, say officials.

"Things are completely normal in the area. There was no traffic disruption following the accident," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Agarwal was quoted as saying in a news agency report.

Earlier, on Jul 12 the first accident was reported from south Delhi, in which six were killed. The second accident took place a day later when two cranes toppled at the same site.
