Jharkhand shutdown evokes a mixed response
Ranchi, July 22 (ANI): The shutdown call given by Maoists against rising prices of the essential commodities in Jharkhand evoked a mixed response here today.
Mohammed Sahid, a train passenger said, "Maoists were justified in giving a shutdown call."
Mohammed Chand, a bus agent, said that everyone was at loss and nobody would gain anything from this shutdown.
"The passengers are facing a lot of problem due to the shutdown as the busses stay off the road. Hazaribagh and Jamshedpur lanes are closed. There is no vehicular moment on roads," said Chand.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh described the Maoists as the biggest internal security challenge since independence.
The Government last month banned and formally labelled Maoist insurgents a terrorist group. (ANI)
