Nuns fined for speeding on way to Pope's home

London, July 20 (ANI): Police recently fined three nuns for crossing the speed limit as they rushed to Pope Benedict XVI's holiday home to see him after he met with a small accident.

Sister Tavoletta, 56, was driving the Ford Fiesta at 120mph, while two other nuns were with her when shocked police pulled them over.

The were busted while an hour's drive away from Pope Benedict's summer holiday chalet at Les Combes.

They were on their way out from the Salesian convent after hearing that the pontiff had slipped in the bathroom and fractured his wrist.

"We had heard how the Pope had fallen over and we were on our way to make sure he was OK," the Telegraph quoted Sister Tavoletta as saying.

The police fined her for rash driving and seized her license.

A spokesman for Turin's police, said: "Hopefully Sister Tavoletta will be making sure she confesses her bad driving the next she goes to confession. But in the meantime, she will have to pay the Euros 375 fine."

However, the 56-year-old has appealed against the fine with the help of Italy's best-known lawyer in driving cases, Anna Orecchioni. (ANI)
