Maya rewards MLA accused of torching Joshi's house

Lucknow, Jul 20: The BSP MP, Intezar Abdi who was accused of burning UPCC Chief, Rita Bahuguna Joshi's house has been given the Deputy Chairmanship of the UP Sugar Corporation. This move by Mayawati has drawn negative attention to the party in the context of its battle with Congress.

The decision to 'reward' him this way is been perceived as an intentional move that is aimed at intensifying the war between the Congress and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP).

Congress, which is seeking a CBI probe into the arson at Rita Bahuguna Joshi's house is now saying that Intezar's promotion proved that BSP is behind the the arson at Joshi's house after he alleged hate speech against the party supremo, Mayawati.

Rita Bahuguna Joshi, on Sunday, Jul 19 said that she wanted a CBI inquiry into the incident, rejecting Uttar Pradesh government's CB-CID probe. Joshi said that this is what the party also wanted and alleged that violence was 'state sponsored crime'.
