Mamata unveils the first Ladies Special train

Howrah, Jul 20: By flagging off the new and the first ever Ladies Special EMU service, the Railway Minister, Mamata Banerjee indicated that she was going to fulfill all the promises she made in the Railway Budget 2009-10.

While officially launching the Ladies Special EMU service between Howrah and Bandel on Sunday, Jul 19, Banerjee took the opportunity to say that steps taken towards industrialization in the state will lead to a lot more job opportunities in the coming years.

Promising another Ladies Special train between Sealdah and Kalyani, Didi said, “Development is a continuous process. Indian Railways is not only the nation"s lifeline but also leads to development."

Sharing that her aim was to connect the mountains and forests in north Bengal to the seaside, she said,"For people wanting to vacation at Mandarmoni, the Kandari and Tamralipta Expresses to Digha will have stoppages at Jidangpur. I will also run a train between Digha and Puri."

The Howrah and Bandel train is just the beginning as the Railway Minister promised to start the service in Chennai and Delhi as well.

This train will start from Bandel at 8.40 am and reach Howrah at 9.43 am and on returning it will start from Howrah at 6.55 pm and reach Bandel at 8 pm . It will stop at all stations on its way and the ministry has promised that security has been arranged for.
