Pak govt withdraws plea against Saeed's release

Islamabad, Jul 14: Pakistan's provincial Punjab government is set to withdraw the petition against the release of Jammat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed on the grounds that the federal government has not supplied enough evidence to back its appeal.

The Punjab provincial government on Tuesday, Jul 14 filed an application in the Supreme Court saying it wants to withdraw its appeal challenging the release of Saeed.

Earlier, the Punjab government filed a petition in the SC challenging the Lahore High Court's order which had released the JuD chief from the house arrest on Jun 2.
