MP: NCW to probe into the Virginity tests row
Bhopal, Jul 14: Unconvinced by the Madhya Pradesh Government's report on the alleged Virginity tests conducted on brides in a government-sponsored mass wedding event, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has decided to probe into the matter itself.
NCW's Chairperson Girija Vyas has revealed that a five-member inquiry committee led by NCW member Yasmin Abrar will probe into the event that took place on Jun 23 in Shahdol district.
The same issue caused quiet an uproar in the state assembly on Tuesday, Jul 14. While Congree raised their voices against just an even that was a clear violation of the Human Rights, the BJP government led by the Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan maintained that this never happened.
