London's tourist spots put on Terror alert

London, Jul 12: According to media reports, experts have named 100 'key sites' in London that will be targeted by the terrorists who are planning to launch a 26/11 like attack.

A intelligence bureau official has reportedly warned that the tourist hotspots in London is on the terror radar and that the terrorists are planning to send explosive-laden boats down the Thames river.

"Mumbai showed just how easy it is for terrorists to use boats to aid co-ordinated attacks. The vessels were used to get into the city but they could just as easily launch an attack from the boats," the intelligence official said.

These inputs have put the London river police on red alert for Islamic fanatics. Met's Marine Support Unit has also started searching boats under the counter terror laws.

Ever since, the 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks which claimed up to 200 live revealed the vulnerability of a country from its coastline, the patrols on the Thames has been stepped up.

The areas that are put under the scanner are tourist spots like the Parliament, the London eye and Canary Wharf.
