Metro Accident: Sreedhran withdraws resignation

New Delhi, Jul 13: 'Metro Man', E Sreedharan, who owned up moral responsibility for the metro bridge accident that killed six and resigned, has reportedly withdrawn his resignation after the Delhi CM, Sheila Dikshit refused to accept it.

The managing director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) decided to withdraw his resignation on Monday, Jul 13 after receiving a letter from the Chief Minister who asked him to continue in the post.

"The DMRC chief, Dr E Sreedharan has decided to withdraw his resignation in view of the letter received last night at 11 p.m. at his residence from the honourable Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit," DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.

Apart from the CM other senior officials like Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna and Minister for Urban Development Jaipal Reddy persuaded him to withdraw the resignation, Dayal added.

When she received the resignation on Suday, Jul 13 the Chief Minister said that the country was in need of such good people and refused to let him go.
