Pune, July 11 (ANI): The Pune Bar Association has felicitated its oldest lawyer Shivram Abhyankar, who celebrated his 100th birthday on Thursday.
Addressing a gathering of lawyers on the occasion, Abhyankar noted that the lawyers of his time were quite dedicated and they never fought their cases for money.
"The lawyers practising in our times used to study hard. They never ran after money and were very much dedicated towards their cases. Lawyers should be honest with their clients and that they should not harass them for money," said Abhyankar.
Abhyankar has been practising law for 75 years.
The hundred-year-old lawyer's proud son, Ravindra Abhyankar, remembered how dedicated his father has been throughout his career.
"His way of studying the cases were very good and during his initial days of studying, he started a monthly magazine, Law Bulletin. Most of the subscribers were the advocates of Maharashtra. There were around 400-500 subscribers for the magazine during that time," said Ravindra Abhyankar.
Abhyankar, who was also a freedom fighter, went to prison for six years at an age of 20. (ANI)
