Leftist activists stage protest in Kolkata
Kolkata, July 8 (ANI): Hundreds of activists of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) staged a demonstration here against the alleged atrocities by security personnel in Lalgarh and also against the recent fuel hike by the Central Government.
Shouting slogans against the Congress Party, they demanded roll back of fuel price hike. They also demanded suspension of police operations in Lalgarh against the Maoists.
The SUCI protestors also demanded immediate rehabilitation of recent cyclone Aila victims.
"The protest is against the atrocities by police, against the price rise of petrol, diesel and price rise of all other commodities, and at the same time sufficient rehabilitation of Aila victims," said Chandidas Bhattacharya, a member of SUCI's Kolkata District Committee. (ANI)
