Ranbir encounter: Police charged with murder

Dehradun, Jul 7: Six Uttarkhand policemen have been booked under murder charges for alleged encounter of Ranbir Singh, MBA student on Monday, Jul 7.

The murder charges were imposed on the policemen after Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amit Sinha and six other policemen were suspended for their involvement in the incident.

FIR has been lodged against 14 police personnel including two deputy superintendent of police in the case. Abhinav Kumar, an IPS officer of 1996 batch, has been made the new SSP of Dehradun.

While, Ranbir's father Ravindra Singh and other relatives have also met Uttarakhand chief minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank to demand a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.

Nishak said, "CB-CID inquiry is on in the case and in case the parents are not satisfied, we will think of CBI inquiry into the case."
