Microsoft issues security warning for PCs

San Jose, Jul 7: Microsoft Corp on Monday, Jul 6 disclosed security vulnerability that could open up the users' PC to hackers and cyber crimes.

While some reports state that the users of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint will be affected, other reports suggest that the vulnerability comes from the Internet Explorer when run on Windows XP and Windows 2000 Server.

When it comes to the Internet Explorer, the user will be vulnerable to hacking by just visiting a site that has been hacked. And with the applications like Excel and PowerPoint, a specially crafted macro enters the system which will avoid detection and run malicious code on the machine.

The company has urged all its users to disable the parts of the software which are defective. The website carries all the information needed to take the security measures.
