Palin may not be making sense, but can still make dollars: GOP

Washington, July 6 (ANI): Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who is to resign from office on July 26, can still make a lot of money for herself and the party, top Republicans said Sunday.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and former White House political guru Karl Rowe told Fox News Sunday that: "She marches to the beat of her own drum, and it's going to be very interesting to see how she pulls this off."

Palin's stunning announcement Friday that she was resigning to pursue a "higher calling" confounded many of her strongest supporters.

Republican strategists were anxious to use Palin in raising funds for state races, and she also was expected to make big money with a book deal and speaking fees.

Alaska Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who will finish Palin's remaining 18 months in office, said she quit because of the "weight on her" from a flurry of ethics investigations.

A potential 2012 rival, former Governor Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.), said Palin's puzzling resignation "raises more questions that it answers." (ANI)
