Naga students protest in national capital against ethnic violence in Assam
New Delhi, July 6(ANI): Naga students on Monday held a protest march in national capital against the ethnic violence in Assam's North Cachar Hill region.
The protest march organised by Naga Students' Union, Delhi (NSUD), highlighted the region which has been witnessing clashes between the Zemi-Naga and Dimasa tribes for several months over land.
"We have the right to live in our own land, so no one should discriminate us and no one should torture us in our own land. Nagas living there have their own right to live in their own land," said Awon.
"We all belong to the same nation. We all are Nagas, so we are fighting for them today," he added.
They also appealed to the Union Government to intervene in the issue to find out an cordial resolution to the situation.
"Our appeal to the Government of India is that please bring immediate peace, a conducive environment where all the people would be able to live peacefully," said Yarengso, a senior member of NSUD. (ANI)
