Dehradun encounter: 7 cops transferred

Dehrudun, Jul 6: Seven policemen were transferred on Sunday, Jul 6 for alleged encounter of 24-year-old Ranbir Singh from Ghaziabad who was shot dead in Dehradun.

The post-mortem report which was conducted at the government Doon Hospital revealed that there were 28 injury marks on Rabir Singh's body, besides 12 bullet wounds.

A doctor at the Doon Hospital told media that autopsy report gave 'clear pointers' to the fact that Ranbir was 'severely tortured' before he was gunned down like a hardcore criminal. As many as 12 bullets were pumped into his chest and other vital organs by Dehradun cops.

Uttarakhand officials said Dehradun SSP Amit Sinha too was trasferred to police along with other six policemen involved in the encounter. SHOs Santosh Jaiswal, Rajendra Bisht, Neeraj Yadav and J D Bhatt and the two others were relieved of their duties to ensure that they didn't influence the probe ordered into the incident.

A senior police officer said, "Nobody thought the Uttarakhand police could kill an innocent youth so brutally for no fault of his."
