French stance on Burqa invites wrath of Al-Qaeda

Dubai, Jul 2: A month after the French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his administration voiced their opposition to the veil or burqa that the Muslim women are forced to wear, Al-Qaeda has reportedly threatened of revenge if the France goes ahead with its opposition.

"Yesterday was the hijab (the Islamic headscarf long banned in French schools) and today, it is the niqab (the full veil)," Abu Musab Abdul Wadud, head of the North African wing of Al-Qaeda reportedly said.

Speaking on the way this move is an insult to the Islamic practices, the leader said "We will take revenge for the honour of our daughters and sisters against France and against its interests by every means at our disposal."

The militant group has also called on the Muslims to join their fight against France and their 'hostility'.
