2 killed in Mysore communal violence

Mysore, Jul 2: At least two persons were killed and many injured in a communal violence around 08:00 am over construction of a worship place in Udayagiri on Thursday, Jul 2.

The police opened fire at several places and threw teargas shells to suppress the rioting mobs. A large number of police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Pujar.

Following the incident, the district administration imposed curfew in 3 parts of the city under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Hindutva groups were being blamed for the clashes.
