Ludhiana, June27 (ANI): Industrialists and traders of Punjab have adopted a novel method to convince state politicians to provide them with adequate electricity-flowers.

Recently flowers were given to state Tourism Minister Hira Singh Gabria in protest against the state government's failure to provide adequate power to the industries.

The All Trade and Industry Forum is protesting against an order of the Punjab State Electricity Board to a section of industries to observe power cut from June 25 to July 2.The forum is demanding equal distribution, and equal cut of power to industries, shopping malls and other commercial centres in the state.

The forum's convenor Narinder Bhambra, said it was decided to send flowers to all the state assembly members and Punjab State Electricity Board officials till they find a solution to the power problem.

Presently, Punjab produces 1,52,600,000 units of power as against the required 1,96,000,000 units.

However, industrialists feel that by rationalizing power cuts on other sectors, the increased demand can be compensated.

Gabria said Punjab has entered into an agreement with Andhra Pradesh to get 350 megawatts of electricity, from July. (ANI)
