Indian Railways serves definitive recipe book
London, June 21 (ANI): After decades of complaints over poor quality of food on long-distance trains, the Indian Railways has decided to try and improve the menu by standardizing recipes.
Rakesh Tandon, managing director of Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation, has compiled a definitive list of curry recipes.
Following the development, the "bible" has been sent to the hundreds of kitchens run by the corporation and by some 1,200 caterers licensed to provide meals.
"We had to standardise our dishes. Some meat curries were far oilier and spicier than those on some trains. The vegetable dishes varied from pungent to very light," The Telegraph quoted him, as saying.
With the recipe book, Tandon hopes the tome will give passengers what they expect.
The standards will also, Tandon said, improve hygiene and remove the threat of "Delhi belly". (ANI)
