Gujarat reluctant to amend bill on security
New Delhi, June 20 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi rejected the suggestions given by the Union Cabinet to amend the Gujarat Control of organised Crime Act (GUJCOCA).
Speaking to media on the sidelines of the BJP national Executive meeting in New Delhi, Modi said the amendment to the act would leave it "without teeth and nails."
The Union Cabinet yesterday returned GUJCOCA bill passed by the Gujarat Assembly, suggesting three amendments.
The Gujarat Chief Minister said the bill is conformity with the guidelines issued by the Centre to fight the organised crime.
Modi criticised the UPA government for failing to take a decision on the bill in its previous five-year term, and said if necessary, his government would take it back to state assembly. (ANI)
