Salary Delay: AI workers warn of indefinite strike
New Delhi, Jun 17: The employees of Air India have warned that they will go on an indefinite strike from July 1 if the payment of their salaries is delayed in the coming month.
"We have decided to go on an indefinite strike from July 1 if the Air India management refuses to pay our salaries on time. We are chalking out strategies for our further course of action," J.B. Kadian, general secretary of the Air Corporation Employees' Union (ACEU) was quoted as saying in a news agency report.
The decision was taken on Tuesday, Jun 16 in a ACEU meeting.
Air India's owner National Aviation Co of India Ltd (NACIL) on Saturday, Jun 13, said that the payment of the June salaries will be delayed by 15 days due to 'resource crunch'.
The union has already submitted a memorandum to NACIL chairman and managing director Arvind Jadhav.
