26/11 report: What is M'rashtra govt hiding?

Written by: Staff

Mumbai, Jun 17: While the country was all ears awaiting the Ram Pradhan Committee report that evaluated the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Ashok Chavan government suspiciously tried to conceal the facts by calling them 'sensitive' information.

While Maharashtra Chief Minister, Ashok Chavan on Tuesday, Jun 16 said that the state does not accept the report entirely; the state's home minister Jayant Patil said that the contents of the report were too 'sensitive' to be shared.

"We do not accept the Ram Pradhan Committee report in totality. We agree on some points and disagree on some but we have made reference of all these in the action taken report (ATR) tabled in both the houses of the legislature on Tuesday," Chavan said.

Even as the Shiv Sena-BJP opposition raised a noisy objection along with the allegations by BJP's Eknath Khadse that the report has blamed three ministers for negligence, Mr. Patil placed the action-to-be-taken report (ATR) and vowed to implement all the suggestions made in the ATR.

And about the opposition's allegations, Chavan simply said, "There is no reference to then chief minister, deputy chief minister or the union home minister. Whether they were charged or not is a different thing. They resigned on moral grounds accepting the responsibility of the incident."
