IG, DIG of UP Police among those injured in encounter with dacoit gang

Chitrakoot (Uttar Pradesh), June 16 (ANI): Three policemen in Uttar Pradesh were killed and nine others including IG PAC VK Gupta and DIG of Chitrakoot Dham Sushil Kumar Singh, were injured in an encounter with dreaded Nan Kewat dacoit gang in Chitrakoot district.

According to reports, police had raided Jamauli village under Rajapur Police Station of the district on Tuesday night after receiving specific information of dreaded dacoit Ghanshyam Kewat alias Nan Kewat and his gang members being present in the village.

Kewat is carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.

One policeman was killed on Tuesday night while two others lost their lives on Wednesday in the encounter.

Teams of STF and PAC arrived at the site of encounter and encircled the village. Several senior police officers including ADG Law and Order of the State, Brijlal were present at the spot to supervise the encounter.

Meanwhile, injured police men have been admitted to a local hospital and seriously injured have been shifted to Allahabad Medical Collage Hospital. (ANI)
