BJP's Koshiyari resigns from Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Jun 17: Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Bhagat Singh Koshiyari on Wednesday, Jun 17 quit as a Rajya Sabha member.

"I have quit as a member of the Rajya Sabha. I have sent my resignation to the Chairman," he said.

The BJP leader says that he took this step in order to 'resurrect' the party in the state where it has lost all of the five Lok Sabha Seats.

"I will work like an ordinary party worker to resurrect the BJP in Uttarakhand and take it to the victory path in the 2012 assembly elections," he said.

Koshiyari and his supporters have been asking for the resignation of Chief Minister BC Khanduri while the BJP high command prefers to maintain status quo.

This accounts for the three resignation BJP has seen in the past few days. Senior leaders Yashwant Sinha and Arun Jaitley quit their party posts in this week.
